This is a weekly assignment that must be done at home. The assignments requires students to read 30 to 45 minutes each evening and respond to the text. It is the student's choice to pick any book they desire to read and it must be over 100 pages minimum. Prior to turning in the log, students need a parent signature which verifies that the parents has seen or watched the student complete his/her assignment. Reading Logs are due every Friday when there is a five day, school day.

At a young age, students are not asked to recognize what they have learned throughout each lesson. Weekly reflections allow students to think about what two pieces of information they've learned that day and how can they apply that information in the near future. This is an in-class assignment and is due every Friday on a five day, school day. If student is absent, it is not okay to write "Absent" for the day missed, they need to take responsibility and ask a peer for information.

It is required that students bring in one loose-leaf ring binder and a set of 100 note cards. Students will make flashcards using vocabulary terms and Latin/Greek Roots. Flashcards allow students to develop a learning strategy early in the year. This is mandatory and required of each student in our class, and it is important parents/guardians to help students study at home between 10-15 minutes a day.
